“On matters of style, swim with the current. On matters of principle, stand like a rock.”

Enriqueta from Barcelona, proudly assures me that every item she has on is local. Either made in Spain or specifically in Catalunya. Cataluyna is a region of Spain where people speak Catalan instead of (or in addition to) Castillian Spanish. There are several folks in Cataluyna who would love for their country to be independent. It’s hard to see, but Enriqueta is wearing jewellery symbolizing the Catalan flag and the independence movement. Her shoes are from the Catalan Island of Menorca, made from leather and recycled tires. Like the espadrilles in France, the Menorquin shoes are the summer staple of the Barcelona wardrobe.
The Style-Diet Shot celebrates individuals with unique style, wearing at least one article of clothing acquired via the Stephens’ Sisters Shopping Diet. It must be local, sustainable, second-hand/re-purposed, inherited or ethically produced. If you can’t find clothing fitting that criteria then it must be from a country with stellar human rights records.
